Yesterday, President Trump held a press conference in front of the White House to promote Tesla vehicles in support of Elon Musk, who he said had been "treated very unfairly."

President Trump explained on Truth Social that he planned to buy a "brand new Tesla... as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk" after "Radical Left Lunatics" tried to "illegally and collusively boycott Tesla."

In the past, there have been comparisons made between President Trump and another well-known right-wing party leader.

Well, today, user cypher-dex pointed out on the r/pics subreddit that the Nazis actually held a similar special event for the Volkswagen back in 1938, calling it the "People's Car."

"On May 26, 1938, Nazi dignitaries gathered near Fallersleben in northern Germany to lay the foundation stone for the Volkswagen Works. The Führer himself was present, predicting that this Volkswagen... would be 'a symbol of the National Socialist [Nazi] people's community,'" according to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Commenters think the similarities between the two events are pretty overt. "They say 'History Doesn't Repeat Itself, but It Often Rhymes' but Trump is just straight up plagiarizing at this point..." user forever_useless said.

"You got to be kidding me," said user Lucky_Shoe_8154.

User ginosesto100 said, "The parallels get worse and worse. Here we go."

User cb4u2015 said, "He's singing Karaoke at this point."
