Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hold more Lok Sabha election campaigns on Sunday, including stops at Etawah, Dhaurahra, and Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Following engagements in Jharkhand, Bihar, and Gujarat, PM Modi arrived in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday evening, beginning his visit with a roadshow in Kanpur alongside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
He is scheduled to address public meetings in Etawah and Dhaurahra, followed by prayers and puja at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He will be in Ayodhya at around 7 PM. This is the prime minister’s first visit to Ayodhya since the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Ram Lalla in January this year.
The roadshow in Ayodhya, spanning nearly 2 kilometers along the ‘Ram Path’, is expected to feature various communities in traditional attire. He will start from Sugriva Fort and continue till Lata Chowk. The route of the roadshow has been divided into 40 blocks.
Ahead of the visit, preparations are underway with decorated streets and grand receptions planned. Acharya Satyendra Das, chief priest of the Ram Temple, said, “This is his (PM Modi’s) first visit to Ayodhya after the ‘Pran Pratishtha’. He will visit the sanctum sanctorum and hold a roadshow thereafter till the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk. The seers and mahants of Ayodhya will accompany him during the roadshow.”
Security measures have been heightened in Ayodhya as devotees flock to the city ahead of PM Modi’s arrival.
Uttar Pradesh, with 80 parliamentary seats, is crucial in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, with polling set to take place until June 1 and vote counting set for June 4. Ayodhya will vote on May 20.
