Upcoming road closures have been announced due to resurfacing work taking place in Broughton.

As a result, motorists will be unable to use Broughton Crossroads on May 29, May 30 and May 31.

Woodplumpton Lane will be closed between the crossroads and Kingsway Avenue on May 28, June 1 and June 2.

Access to Kingsway Avenue will also be restricted at certain times on these days.

Properties affected by this resurfacing work have been informed, and signed diversionary routes will be put in place.

The improvement work - which includes wider pavements and traffic calming - is being carried out by Lancashire County Council as part of the planning permission for James Towers Way, which opened in October 2017.

This is an agreement between the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership, Preston City Council, South Ribble Borough Council and Lancashire County Council, along with central government and Homes England.

John Gatheral, highways design manager from the county council, said: "This is the latest stage of our improvement work in the centre of the village, which includes wider pavements and traffic calming.

"We apologise for the inconvenience these temporary closures will cause, while this improvement work takes place.

"We're using temporary closures to reduce the overall impact of this work, which would otherwise take much longer and disrupt people much more."
