Bulgaria: IAEA, EBRD Officials among Speakers at Nuclear Decommissioning Conference in Sofia

Names of Bulgarian and EU officials and representatives of regulators and operators to attend the Central & Eastern Europe Nuclear Decommissioning and Waste Management Conference 2016 have already been announced.

The conference, which is due to take place in Bulgaria's capital Sofia on December 08-09, is supported by the European Union and government, nuclear operators and regulators from the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region. It is the only international and commercial Nuclear Decommissioning & Waste Management event focusing on the region.

Among senior institutional representatives, Mr Vince Novak, Director, Nuclear Safety Department, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), has confirmed he will participate.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will be represented by Mr Paul Standing ( Nuclear Engineer, Section of Nuclear Fuel Cycle & Materials, Division of Nuclear Fuel Cycle & Waste Technology, Department of Nuclear Energy) as a speaker.

Bulgarian Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova will also attend the conference.

With regard to operators and regulators, the speakers who have confirmed include:

Mr Georgi Razlojki, Deputy Director “Radioactive Waste Management and Decommissioning”, State Enterprise Radioactive Waste (SE RAW), Bulgaria;

Mr Momchil Kazakov, Chief Technologist, Special Division of "Decommissioning of 1-4 units", State Enterprise Radioactive Waste (SE RAW), Bulgaria;    

Mr Nikolay Grozev, First Secretary , Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency (BNRA), Bulgaria;

Mr Juraj Homola, Director of Division of Radioactive Waste and Decommissioning, Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic (UJD SR), Slovakia;

Mr Valeriy Seyda, First Deputy General Director, SSE ChNPP, Ukraine;

Mr Darius Janulevi?ius, Director General, Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant, Lithuania.

Mr Florin Constantin Tatar, President, Nuclear Agency and for Radioactive Waste (ANDR), Romania, is yet to confirm.

 Experts who have confirmed include Mr Slavcho Neykov, Chairman at the Energy Management Institute of Bulgaria, and Dr Mitica Dragusin, Nuclear Safety Director, at Horia Hulubei National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering (IFIN HH), Romania.
